Mexico... usually known for its larger waves. We arrived to a 2ft wave at zippers. Imagine 70 other WQS girls wanting the same wave on a beach/rock break that's maybe 50m long. Not my cup of tea! Lots of scrambling, drops in, snaking and what ever wave tactics your can think of. Unfortunately it's something I'm getting used to. So now for the past 2 days its been windy as feckkkk, not a lot of surfing, gym, tennis and a bit of tourist driving and eating our way around. Its dropped now to half a foot.
Eating whilst away is easier than you think. I don't have the money to always go out so it easy as just finding a grocer and getting your fresh produce to do the best you can. I can understand Spanish so the most of the packet food is out of the question for me.
The fruit is bigger than my head and the guacamole is delicious...I'm going through an avocado everything stage... even in the smoothies.
Tips to eat well whilst travelling.
1. Don't eat out all the time
Your tempted (like by the freshly made corn chips, emegerdddddddd), you don't always know exactly what you get or what lies beneath. Im not saying don't ever eat out, because you have to experience the cultural foods which are epic. But maybe not every meal.
2. Stay away from the Isles
If your in an unknown country with a different language, I would stick to the single food isles, actually stay away from the isle all together, just keep it fresh fruit, veg, meats, dairies or whatever you like, but the more on the packet the better it is to leave it there. All of it is in Spanish over here, so I'm in the cold section
3. Ask the locals
If they speak english! They always know the best places to eat if your gonna eat out.
4. Be area aware
This meaning, what is the best at this time of the year, is it a place that has epic salmon, or a place that has epic white fish. Look what is in season. Do a little digging online whilst at the airport and take advantage of your travel time.
This is always on my list, I am always researching the best places to eat before or during travel time. I am the family finder for out food I think. So like I said before, take advantage of the travel time you have and save your favourite looking places. They won't always be a hit, but most are!
